Great, simple to use

We believed a skunk had taken residence under our deck. Our dogs kept alerting around our back door, and had they had gotten sprayed several times in the side yard, where the deck ends. I was sceptical, but my wife was insistent, so we made the purchase. I used a mix of wet cat food and peanut butter as bait and set the trap just before dusk. We had a skunk trapped within hours. I picked up the trap and drove it out to a creek several miles away, and let her out. I came back home, reset the trap and went to bed. Next morning, I checked, and BAM second skunk!
He got dropped off at the same place as his friend.
There are a couple wonderful things about this trap; the first, it obviously works. Second, there are no tricky mechanism or trips. It is a simple gate the animal pushes thru, that then closes behind them. The top of the trap is open enough for you to see if you have a guest without getting right on top it. The trap is shallow enough that the skunk cannot lift their tail to spray you; neither of my captures sprayed.
The release is a simple gate you lift (and run away). There is space for the animal to turn around...both of my captures were facing back toward the entrance when I found them, and managed to turn back around to get out.
Lastly, the cage and gates are metal, unlike some competitors. and there is little chance they could fight their way out before you collect them.
I already have neighbors, family and friends asking to borrow our trap, and I would happily recommend it to anyone else. - Tim Y.

Skunkinator

Caught a few skunks, but also had some get away. The door on the end that allows you to put the bait in needs a latch to keep it down to keep the skunks inside. It just slides up and down, so I have to set a heavy rock on top to keep the skunks from escaping. - Anonymous

Very effective

This trap works well on adult skunks but smaller ones are able to lift their tails and spray. If you can see the skunk turning around as you approach, back off and drop an old dog blanket over the trap from the other direction. Transport the skunk with the blanket in place until you open the release door and the skunk exits. The skunk may spray during this process but it will be confined and the blanket can be discarded. Another problem was the first night a skunk dug under the trap to get the bait (dry dog food) that wasn't in the tray and tipped the trap over. This was solved by staking the trap down and also placing a large rock on top of it. My neighbors and I have caught 5 skunks in 8 or 9 days. Very effective ! - Anonymous

Size makes a difference

The good: The trap arrived quickly, the design looks good & its construction is adequate. The not so good: The trap is not large enough for an adult skunk to physically enter the trap. I realize the trap is designed to keep the skunk from being able to spray but the skunks I was trying to trap could not get into the trap & it wasn't from lack of trying. Maybe our skunks in the Northwoods of Wisconsin are larger than elsewhere with an average adult coming in at 15+ lbs. I was able to trap the skunks with a typical 12"X12" trap but had to deal with the skunks spraying. - Smelly skunk trapper
